Our journey to becoming owners of a McKelvey Home was unique to say the least. We lived in a two-story, five-bedroom home in Fox Creek Estates for nearly 37 years. We raised our four children in that home and loved it.  Once our daughter and three sons were married and on their own, we thought it might be time to downsize. So, we began a 2 1/2 year search for a smaller place. 

We looked at ranch homes, condos, villas, even a few retirement centers. We could not find anything that we thought we would be happy with. Coincidentally, during our search, the Trustees of our subdivision were considering selling a tract of land in the neighborhood that was being used as common ground. We were thrilled to learn that Jim Brennan purchased the land with the intention of building four custom McKelvey Homes. We had never even considered building a new home, but it seemed like it was meant to be!  

We have known Jim & Rose Brennan for years; our boys attended grade school and high school with their boys. Jim Brennan is without a doubt one of the most honest, ethical people we know, and we also knew of the quality of a McKelvey Home.  If you had told us five years ago that we, a retired couple in our 70's, would be building a new home, we would have thought you were crazy, but we were on our way to being owners of a beautiful McKelvey Home!

We had an outstanding experience building our McKelvey Home. Everyone we worked with at McKelvey was knowledgeable, helpful, and professional.  This extended to the sub-contractors who were all skilled craftsmen dedicated to doing a high-quality job. Since we lived in the neighborhood, we came by our home-site often and were impressed with everyone we met. We are so proud of our new home and the attention to every detail shows! We love that our back yard overlooks the soccer fields at Parkway South Middle School and our subdivision pool, providing great places for our grandchildren to play.  Thanks for Jim Brennan and our many new friends at McKelvey Homes, we have the amazing home we didn't dare to dream of owning. We couldn't be happier with the entire process and whole-heartedly recommend McKelvey Homes.

We have had an amazing experience with McKelvey Homes.
Neither Michelle nor I had ever had a home built before, so we were excited,
but also felt a little out of our depth.

There was no need for any anxiety, everyone we dealt with at
McKelvey was straight forward, quick to answer our questions and good at what
their job.

When you’re having a home built, there are many moving
pieces---McKelvey was there to help us through the process, helping with all
the decisions on things from what design, to all the features, flooring,
appliances, etc.

We always felt very well taken care of…and maybe the best
thing we can say is that we felt like we were the only customers McKelvey had.

When Brad found a lot, the first call he made was to Charlie Brennan to get his opinion of building a ranch on the site. After walking the lot, he directed us to McKelvey's website to view the floor plans, including the designer series and luxury series selections.  He also told us that they could customize any of them to fit our preferences.  Once picking a design, McKelvey then helped us to negotiate with the lot owner and we were able to save money on the purchase.  After choosing the floorplan, we worked with their architect for the modifications to the design and the elevation.  McKelvey walked us through our selection process with each of their subcontractors and we were on our way.  The lot was purchased in January of 2021 and we were able to move into our new house in February of 2022.  Their staff and construction team were great to work with and we recommend and have recommended them to anyone that is thinking about building.

We finalized the sale of our new home in Dec. 2021, amid the crazy supply and worker shortage. This is our 18th home in our 50 year marriage and the third home we have built.  Unequivocally, this was the best experience we have had with a home builder, despite our being pleased with both of the other builders as well.  So we want to thank you. 

Every person we worked with was professional, personable, with a notable determination to make us pleased with the results of our building. Sand Wagner worked over the months to fine tune our selections and details. We were on a tight time frame to get into the home; so, despite delay of materials beyond McKelvey's ability to control, you got us in our home with temporary items needed to pass inspection. Terry Scott, the superintendent, is the most awesome person I know. He was totally responsive to every detail of getting us settled. He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, which was especially appreciated by me since my husband has a serious medical disability which inhibits him from being involved.  

I was most impressed with the organizational detail that McKelvey has.  Each person has a distinct role. The buyer is given a check list of when deadlines are to occur. A detailed print out sheet is provided with cost of each option as the plans are made. After closing, the president of the company called us to welcome us and see how things were going! Once in the home, there are two times to submit a punch list of details to be modified. Meg Belcher was our go to person for these minor issues. She follows up on each issue to ensure completion by the vendors. To date, she is a delight to work with and every issue has been addressed!!

There are two essential factors in rating a builder… the quality of the home and the follow up to finalize details. McKelvey has exceeded our expectations in both area. Our home has had not one issue with quality of workmanship. Even the sub-contractors who I have had contact with directly have made statements about what McKelvey expects of them and how great they are to work with. The follow up to details has been wonderful, even in the midst of the shortages caused by building in the pandemic. 

We came to know about McKelvey Homes through our friends who purchased one-year prior to us. Our building experience was fun and exciting. The service was friendly, up-close, and personal. If you are looking for a great home in a great neighborhood at a great price, you are looking for McKelvey.

McKelvey was the first builder we looked at. It was our first impression. Then we compared every other builder's floorplans and quality. We always came back to McKelvey, because we could see the difference.

The moment we walked in the display, we knew this is what we wanted. We love the floorplan and McKelvey's quality is top-notch.

We loved the floorplan and the price. The quality of construction is very good and we don't know how it could be any better. It was a pleasure working with McKelvey.

Location was our highest priority. We had no doubt McKelvey could build our home. They have a wonderful team and they did a fabulous job.
